SHIM Jigyasa 2026: The College Fest in Bhopal Where School Students Took the Stag

On 10 October, the Sant Hirdaram Auditorium at SHIM Bhopal was packed to the last seat. More than 3000 school students from over 100 schools across Madhya Pradesh had arrived for SHIM Jigyasa 2026, and it is easy to see why the event belongs on any list of college fests in Bhopal.

Jigyasa means curiosity, and that one word sums up the idea. Sant Hirdaram Institute of Management for Women (SHIM) built this inter-school championship to give school students a stage to show their talent, speak up and compete, long before they step into a college classroom.

What Is SHIM Jigyasa?

SHIM Jigyasa is an annual inter-school championship hosted on the SHIM campus in Bhopal. 2026 was its tenth year, and it was the biggest edition yet in energy and creativity. Seven competitions gave school students a platform for their skills: rangoli, group dance, quiz, debate, painting, collage making and talent hunt.

What sets it apart from most fests is who runs it. The BBA, MBA and Integrated MBA students of SHIM plan and manage the whole event. For them, Jigyasa is a live management project with real deadlines and real people depending on them.

The Competitions That Stole the Day

Seven competitions ran through the day. Here is how the biggest ones unfolded.
On Stage: Group Dance and Talent Hunt

In the group dance competition, the applause barely stopped as team after team took the stage. In the talent hunt, participants found creative ways to show what they could do.

On Canvas and Paper: Rangoli, Collage Making and Painting

The rangoli competition turned the floor into a rainbow, with participants sending out different messages in colour on the theme Incredible India. In collage making, students gave shape to their creativity around the meeting of tradition and technology. The judges praised the creative work across all three art events.

In the Mind: Debate and Quiz

The debate was on social media, and students put forward thoughtful points on both its power and its pitfalls. The quiz built tension round after round, and the audience felt every one of them.

The Moment the Whole Auditorium Sang Along

The special performance came from the Sankalp Vashishth Band. Soon the whole hall was singing along with them in one voice, and the music had everyone on their feet. Visitors left praising the energy of the students and congratulating SHIM on a successful event.

Behind the Scenes: How SHIM Students Built Jigyasa

Most visitors saw a smooth day. What they didn’t see was the planning behind it. SHIM’s MBA, BBA and Integrated MBA students handled the event end to end, and through it they learned management in the truest sense.

This is the part we’re proudest of. A fest teaches what a textbook can’t: keeping many events on schedule, looking after guests from over a dozen towns and calming a nervous team. Our students learn it by doing it.

Schools From Across Madhya Pradesh
Jigyasa is not only a Bhopal event. Students came from reputed schools in Bhopal, and also from Narmadapuram, Sehore, Shujalpur, Byaora, Narsinghgarh, Ashta, Bina, Ganj Basoda, Shyampur, Kurawar, Kalapipal and other places. Teachers of the participating schools also appreciated the event, and the students went home with golden memories of the day.

Why Jigyasa Belongs Among the Best College Fests in Bhopal

Bhopal has no shortage of college fests. So what makes this one stand out?

It is built for learning, not just entertainment. Every competition gives students a stage to show a real skill, from art to debate to quick thinking. It is also run by students, which is rare at this scale. And it sits alongside JSS Carnival, the inter-college management fest SHIM hosts, which brings colleges from across Central India together.
Two fests, two audiences, one philosophy: learning beyond the classroom.

What This Means If You’re Choosing a College

If you’re a school student who competed at Jigyasa, you already know the campus. If you’re a parent, you’ve seen how SHIM students handle responsibility.

SHIM is a women-only management institute, set up in 2010 by Jeev Sewa Sansthan, approved by AICTE and affiliated to Barkatullah University. It offers BBA and Integrated MBA after Class 12, and a 2-year MBA after graduation. Events like Jigyasa and Carnival are part of the course experience, not an extra.
